does it matter which crpyto you use to fund an account?

Wondering if anyone has any ideas about this, does it matter which crpyto you use to fund an account, for instance on duelbits etc you have multiple choices.. i over heard a streamer say you wanna use the currency that most people will be using say like BTC etc, but when depositing it just goes into USD anyway so im confused why it would make a difference.. Ive been using LTC as sending fee is really low.
